The User Journey Map in Ushur Studio provides a detailed visualization of how users interact with your workflows. It allows you to analyze user behavior, track engagement, identify drop-offs, and optimize workflows for better outcomes.

Note:

This feature is available for enterprise users. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to enable it.

How to Access the User Journey Map

  1. Log in to Ushur Studio.

  2. Navigate to Dashboard > Campaign Analytics.

  3. From the Selected Workflow dropdown, choose the workflow you want to analyze.

  4. Click the User Journey tab to access the map.

Navigating the User Journey Map

1. Workflow Overview

  • The map displays a Sankey-style chart that represents:

    • Nodes (boxes): Each step of the workflow.

    • Lines (connections): The transitions between workflow steps.

  • This visual overview helps you:

    • Track user paths.

    • Identify steps with high engagement or drop-offs.

    • Analyze how users move through the workflow.

2. Step Statuses

Each step shows a status that represents user interaction with the step:

  1. Initiated ( Turquoise) :

    • The total number of users who entered the workflow.

    • Represents the starting point for all recipients.

  2. In-Progress (Yellow) :

    • Users who are actively engaged with a specific step but have not completed it.

    • Indicates partial engagement or transitions within the workflow.

  3. Completed (Dark Green) :

    • The number of users who successfully finished the workflow or a specific step.

    • Highlights workflow effectiveness in driving intended actions.

  4. Error (Pink) :

    • Users who encountered issues preventing them from proceeding further in the workflow.

    • Useful for identifying problem areas or technical failures in specific steps.

  5. Expired (Gray) :

    • Users whose session or workflow interaction timed out.

    • Indicates engagement loss due to inactivity or unmet deadlines.

  6. Other (Blue) :

    • Represents users who took alternate paths or were excluded due to specific conditions in the workflow logic.

Analyzing Data Using Filters

Filters allow you to refine the data shown in the User Journey Map to focus on specific subsets.

1. Launch Date

  • Filter workflows based on their start or ongoing dates.

  • Use the date picker to select a time range.

  • Options include Early /Continuous campaigns for early or active workflows.

2. UID Search

  • Search for specific users or campaigns using unique identifiers:

    • Phone Number: Track user behavior based on phone numbers.

    • Email Address: Focus on interactions linked to specific email addresses.

    • Request ID: Locate and analyze specific workflow requests.

Steps:

  1. Enter the value in the field (e.g., phone number or email address).

  2. Click Add.

  3. Click Apply Filters to view the filtered data.

3. Clear Filters

  • Reset all applied filters to view the complete dataset by clicking Clear Filters.

Customizing Data Display: Show Options

Hover over steps to view the detailed metrics of each status at step. Use the Show Options to adjust the way data is displayed on the map:

1. Relative %

  • Shows the percentage of users moving to the next step relative to the parent step.

  • Example: If 100 users start Step A and 50 proceed to Step B, Relative % is 50%.

2. Absolute %

  • Displays the percentage of users at a step relative to the total participants in the workflow.

  • Example: If 100 users begin the workflow and 30 reach Step B, Absolute % is 30%.

3. User Counts

  • Shows the total number of users who interacted with each step. This provides raw user numbers.

4. Execution Counts

  • Tracks the number of system executions at each step, useful for debugging.

    Note

Selecting Execution Counts disables percentage-based metrics (Relative % and Absolute %).

Step Information and Highlighting

Step Highlighting

  • Hover over any step to:

    • Highlight it for better focus.

    • Dim other steps in the workflow.

  • This feature helps isolate specific interactions.

Step Information Panel

  • Click on a step to open its Step Information Panel, where you can:

    • View user counts, completion rates, and transitions.

    • Analyze specific user paths entering or exiting the step.

Minimap Navigation

The minimap offers a condensed view of the entire workflow, making it easier to navigate through large workflows with multiple branches.

Key Features of the Minimap

  1. Viewport Indicator:

    • The vertical rectangle on the minimap represents the visible portion of the workflow on the main map.

    • Drag the rectangle to navigate across the workflow.

  2. Complex Workflow Assistance:

    • For workflows with over 20 steps or multiple branches, the minimap provides:

      • Quick navigation across different sections.

      • A bird's-eye view of the entire structure.

      • Visual context to stay oriented while zooming into specific areas.

Key Benefits of the User Journey Map

  1. Track Engagement:

    • Monitor user behavior and identify popular or problematic steps.

  2. Optimize Workflows:

    • Use data insights to refine workflows and address drop-offs.

  3. Streamline Analysis:

    • Filters, step highlighting, and minimap navigation simplify large workflow analysis.

  4. Customize Views:

    • Adjust display settings with Show Options for tailored insights.
