Scenario
Should I use a separate short code for different departments or just use one short code company-wide?
Best Practice
Short Codes are 5-digit numbers assigned to a business. We recommend, that you use the same short code company-wide to help with brand recognition. If you have different departments created as separate Enterprise Accounts (EA), they can share the blacklist. For example, a STOP request sent for one EA will stop SMS coming from all departments/EAs.
You may consider having different short codes in a use case where, for example, post-acquisition, the business entities require two different numbers if they prefer to keep their engagements independent of each other.
To ensure faster and more seamless communication, Short codes are a high priority within carriers. However, the cost involved is also a factor for you to consider. Ensure to discuss this with your Ushur Customer Support Manager for more information.
