Article summary

Feature Overview

This feature allows customers to customize/replace the Ushur URL and white-label it with their own domain/URL. For example, happyinsurance.com instead of happyinsurancepoc.ushur.me .This is to ensure that the end-users of the enterprise will view a familiar, trusted domain name to engage with the enterprise.

Technical Details

The work involves changing the configuration of the DNS entries on the customer’s side. CNAME mapping is involved in whitelisting the domain. CNAME stands for Canonical name, which is used to map one domain name to another, in other words, create an alias.

Presently, the end customers are directed to Ushur URLs which is displayed in the IA engagements. The CNAME entry in the customer’s DNS configuration creates an alias domain, for example, “appointments.happyinsurance.com” to point to “happyinsurancepoc.Ushur.me”. Whenever “appointments.happyinsurance.com” is clicked in the browser, the DNS will automatically redirect the request to “happyinsurancepoc.ushur.me”, without changing the hostname. Hence the HappyInsurance.com domain name continues to appear on the end-user browser address. However, the content displayed will be pulled from the Ushur server, making it appear as though the content originated from the customer's server.

Note: Domain whitelisting will not have any impact on the security policies or other measures followed by Ushur.

Requirements from the Customer

  • Customer should provide their custom domain/URL which should appear in Ushur.

  • Customer will make the CNAME entry on their DNS pointing to the Ushur cloud environment.

  • Ushur team will also generate the required private key and the certificate signing request (CSR). The customer is required to obtain the domain name and the necessary SSL certificates based on the CSR.

  • Customer should provide the relevant certificates for their domain or subdomain. Customer should update all the Ushur API calls with the latest domain changes.

  • White-labeling of the email addresses (from and to emails used in email module), if any Ushur is configured to send email their business/support emails. E.g. End user customer details captured in a campaign can be triggered as an email to support agents ([email protected]). The from email that is set in settings ([email protected]) should be whitelisted, as emails are going to be triggered from the Ushur domain.

Creating an Email Domain White-Label

The Email Domain White Labeling is essentially an email-based workflow that sends an email with the customer's domain name.

For example, the Ushur customer's platform is hosted on happyinsurance.ushur.me. All the email based workflows can be configured to send emails with happyinsurance.com domain name.

To configure this, the Sender Authentication must be set up. This essentially enables Ushur.me as a trusted domain where [email protected] emails can originate. The email servers will block emails from going out without the sender authentication configuration.

Follow the steps below to white-label an email domain:

  1. Contact the Ushur Customer Success Manager team to update the email gateway that generates a few entries for the customer.

  2. The customer IT team will update their DNS records with entries as specified in the table below.

    Note

The emailgateway mentioned in the table below is the email gateway service provider.

Once step 2 is confirmed, the Ushur team will complete the configuration and workflows will be able to send emails with happyinsurance.com domain name. The Ushur workflow can setup and use any email address such as [email protected] or [email protected].
