Article summary

Ushur provides customization and personalization of email to improve the engagement experience with end users. There are two ways of customizing emails:

  • Simple email message

  • HTML editor in email module

  • Option to Unsubscribe from Mailing List

  • Manually Unsubscribing Users from #Mailing List

Simple Email Message

Application

You can use this to create emails or mailers to send to your users or internal teams. This module enables you to create specific content and designs such as buttons, colors, and links, or use a pre-defined template to send them out as custom emails. You can create emails with specific details. You can click the {x} icon to view the list of variables that are available for the module.

  • Module Friendly Name: An optional label to identify the module within the Ushur.

  • From/Reply-to: The domain name in the From and Reply-to field can now be configured on specific customer requirements. Both email addresses can be customized/white-labeled to one that belongs to the Enterprise so that their customers will recognize a known and trusted email source. Please reach out to your Customer Success Manager to configure your specific domain name for these two fields. This pre-configured domain name will be automatically displayed in these fields. If you edit this with another address that is different from the pre-configured domain name, the following warning message will be displayed.

  • CC: The recipients who will receive a carbon copy of the email.

  • BCC: The recipients who will receive a blind carbon copy of the email.

  • Email: This is the recipient’s email. You can either enter the email address directly or type the variable containing the recipient’s email address.

  • Subject: This is the subject line of the email.

  • Message: This is the text body of your email. You can type text as well as access variables.

  • Attachment: Enter the variable containing the file you would like to attach.

  • Notify: Send a confirmation email notifying the recipient of your choice that this email has been sent.

  • Send Message by Invisible App only: The email module will be only sent through an Invisible App engagement.

HTML Editor in the Email Module

Application

The HTML editor is a simple-looking but powerful editor that can beautify emails without needing to code HTML or CSS. You can insert a picture, insert buttons, hyperlink text, and more with just a few clicks. Advanced users can also input HTML and CSS code, making it more flexible for different usages. This extra layer of customization makes the HTML editor optimal for composing emails sent to customers.

Settings

The settings shown above for the Simple Email Message apply here as well. The primary difference between using the HTML editor and the Simple Email Message is that rather than entering the email body inside the message block, you enter it in the HTML editor (this feature needs to be activated in your admin settings). The HTML editor contains two tabs - Custom HTML and Use Email Template.

From the Custom HTML tab, you can modify the content with the following options.

  • Click File > New Document to clear your current draft.

  • Click Edit to copy and paste text or undo/redo changes.

  • Click View > Source Code or Tools > Source Code to view and edit the source code of the email. A sample source code will look like this:

  • Click Insert to insert an image, link, or table.

  • Click Format to design and format the way your email text is displayed.

  • Click Tools to view the word count of your email. This helps you to create short emails with sufficient information.

  • Click Table to insert a table into your email.

  • Click Use Email Template and select a pre-designed template from your computer. This helps save time instead and also reusing previous content.

Option to Unsubscribe from the Mailing List

Ushur allows users to unsubscribe from a mailing list, if they choose to, by clicking on the Unsubscribe link. From within the Email module, scroll down to Email content. In the Custom HTML editor click the Insert Unsubscribe Link and specify the text.

The email will now contain the Unsubscribe link along with the text specified. The users can click this to unsubscribe themselves from the mailing list. The email will however contain Click here to Subscribe back option, using which the users can always list themselves back into their subscription.

The list of email IDs that have chosen to unsubscribe from the mailing list will be displayed in the Unsubscribe tab.

Manually Unsubscribing Users from the Mailing List

Ushur provides the option to manually unsubscribe users from a mailing list.

  1. From within the Application Context, click the Unsubscribe tab.

  2. In the Enter email ID to be updated text box, specify the email ID that you wish to add to the list and click Add to Unsubscribe List. You can also upload multiple email IDs using pre-existing Excel and CSV files. Click the respective buttons to upload the specific files.

If you wish to add the email ID back to the subscribe list, select the particular email row, and click Remove from Unsubscribe List.
