Article summary

Description

The Delay module will pause an engagement for a specified amount of time before executing the next module in the workflow.

Application

One common use of the Delay module is adding it between back-to-back messages in SMS text engagements. Although SMS texts are always sent in the order that they appear in the workflow, they can take longer than expected to reach the end user, causing a message to appear out of order. Therefore, adding a short delay between each text can guarantee that messages are sent in the correct order as well as give a better user experience. This gives the end user a chance to read the first message before more are received.

Another common use is adding a short delay after a module that makes an API call. Sometimes it takes a few seconds to get an API response back.

Settings

To use a Delay module, configure the following settings:

  • Label: The label uniquely identifies this module inside the Ushur for your reference.

  • Time: This is the amount of time the engagement will pause between the previous and the next module.
